Academician Arif Gashimov
Arif Mammad oglu Gashimov was born on 28 September 1949 in the Shahbuz district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic into a family of teachers. In 1966, he enrolled in the Energy Department of the Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry (now ASOIU - Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University), graduated from the institute in 1971, and began working as an engineer in the Electrophysics Laboratory of the Institute of Physics of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. In 1980, he defended his candidate's thesis at the Institute of Electrodynamics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and in 1993, his doctoral thesis at the same institute.
Prominent Director Latif Safarov
Latif Bashir oghlu Safarov was born on September 30, 1920, in Shusha. At the age of seven, he appeared in director Leo Mur’s film “The Girl from Gilan” (“Bronze Moon”, 1928). Later, together with the creative team and particularly due to director M. Mikayilov’s efforts, he came to Baku and was accepted onto the studio staff. He played child roles in the films “Sevil” (1929), “Latif” (1930), “Towards the East” (1930), and “The Golden Bush” (1930). In 1931, he entered the Ganja Pedagogical Technical School and studied part-time. He worked in the dubbing department of the film studio and later served as an assistant director in films.
Academician Arif Melikov
Arif Jahangir oglu Melikov was born on 13 September 1933 in Baku. After completing his secondary education, he studied at the Baku Music College from 1948 to 1951 and subsequently pursued higher education in composition at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory from 1953 to 1958. These years marked the formative stage of his professional musical education. Arif Melikov began his professional career as a teacher at the Shusha City Music School in 1951–1952 and subsequently continued his pedagogical and creative activities. From the 1960s onward, his professional life was closely associated with the Azerbaijan State Conservatory.
