The book is based on the exposition material of the touring exhibition entitled "Lithuania: Culture and History" by the Lithuanian Art Museum which was designed especially for the grand jubilee. With this along with the touring exhibition in Europe, the US, and other countries, efforts are being made to acquaint one with the most important facts of Lithuanian history, present an iconography that reveals them in all their aspects, and introduce the most significant projects of the Programme for the Millennium of Lithuania.
