










































January 20, 1990, marked a turning point in the history of the Azerbaijani people’s struggle for freedom and independence. On the night of January 19-20, 1990, as a result of military aggression of the units of the Soviet Army and special forces, against the civilian population in Baku and other regions of the republic, numerous people were killed and hundreds of civilians were injured. This tragedy not only exposed the true nature of the totalitarian regime but also further strengthened the national will and determination of the people to achieve freedom. This virtual exhibition presents books that reflect the historical causes, course, and consequences of the January 20 tragedy. The purpose of the exhibition is to respectfully commemorate the martyrs, preserve the national historical memory, and strengthen the spirit of patriotism among the younger generation.
