The Presidential Library has prepared and launched a virtual exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of the first female orientalist scholar in Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philology and Professor Aida Imanguliyeva.

Professor Aida Imanguliyeva was the first Azerbaijani scholar to systematically study the literary connection and mutual influences between Eastern and Western traditions. Her numerous scholarly works explore the synthesis of Eastern and Western cultural traditions, the evolution of creative styles, and the emergence of new artistic forms, thereby laying a crucial foundation for examining not only Arabic literature but also modern Eastern literatures more broadly from this perspective. As a scholar, Aida Imanguliyeva’s scope of activity was broad and multifaceted. She also translated numerous Arabic literary works, including stories by Mikhail Naimy, Mahmoud al-Zahir, Mohammad Dib, Sahib Jamal, Suhayl Idris, and Majid Zayib Ghanama, into Azerbaijani, faithfully preserving their poetic spirit, meaning, and content.

The virtual exhibition features extensive information on the scholar’s life, academic activity, published works, as well as books written about her.

The virtual exhibition serves as a valuable resource not only for researchers but also for a broad readership. The materials presented offer a comprehensive overview of the scholar’s academic and publicistic work, providing an in-depth understanding of her role in the development of Oriental studies in Azerbaijan.
