April Battles – The Beginning of the Great Victory

The military clashes that occurred in April 2016, known in history as the "April Battles," became one of the most intense phases of the Garabagh conflict. Lasting only four days, these engagements unfolded along the line of contact between the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Armenia and had a significant impact on the political and military situation in the region. During the April Battles, the Azerbaijani Army established control over a number of strategically important heights and positions surrounding populated areas, achieving operational superiority. These developments clearly demonstrated that the status quo, which had persisted for many years under conditions of positional warfare, could be altered. The clashes are also of particular interest in terms of the use of modern military technologies, tactical maneuvers, and the importance of operational decision-making. The virtual exhibition aims to present this important historical event from multiple perspectives. The exhibition features the chronology of the battles, participants’ recollections, maps of military operations, photographic and video materials, as well as examples of acts of heroism. Special emphasis is placed on the valor of the servicemen who took part in the battles, the memory of the martyrs (shahids), and their self-sacrifice in the name of the Motherland. The primary objective of the exhibition is to comprehensively convey to visitors the essence, causes, and outcomes of the April Battles, as well as to contribute to the preservation of national memory and its transmission to future generations. In this regard, the exhibition holds considerable significance both in terms of historical education and carrying out of work aimed at raising the spirit of patriotism.
