Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev is one of the most prominent representatives of Azerbaijani science. The scholar, who laid the foundations of petrochemistry in Azerbaijan, made exceptional contributions to the development of technological processes of great practical significance for obtaining valuable industrial products. Mammadaliyev achieved wide recognition for his discovery of a new method for producing high-octane aviation fuel, a breakthrough that became an important milestone event in the field of petrochemical science. His name is also associated with the establishment of a number of scientific institutions and structures in the republic. The Azerbaijani school of petrochemistry formed by Yusif Mammadaliyev – who pursued a broad range of fundamental research while simultaneously engaging in highly effective pedagogical activity – became well known far beyond the country’s borders.
