On June 5, 1972, the first international conference dedicated to the human environment, convened by the United Nations, was held in Stockholm, Sweden. The conference highlighted the global nature of environmental problems and emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation to address ecological issues. Following the resolution of this conference, June 5 was declared "World Environment Day" and has been widely celebrated worldwide since 1973. The primary objective of this initiative is to draw public attention to environmental protection, enhance individuals' ecological responsibility, broaden environmental awareness campaigns, and promote the principles of sustainable development. Through annual events with various slogans, pressing issues such as environmental pollution, biodiversity loss, deforestation, water resource conservation, and climate change are brought to the forefront.
