Монархия Турецкая, описанная через Рикота бывшего английского секретаря посольства при Оттоманской Порте
This rare 18th-century historical work represents a Russian translation of Polish editions of accounts by English diplomat Paul Rycaut, who served as secretary to the English embassy in Constantinople. Published in St. Petersburg in 1741, the book systematically documents the Ottoman Empire’s political institutions, court protocols, and daily life during the early 1700s. Blending diplomatic dispatches with ethnographic observation, Rycaut’s first-hand account stands as a valuable primary source for Ottoman studies. The edition holds particular significance in Slavic book history as one of the earliest Russian translations of Western Orientalist literature. This copy has been meticulously restored as a valuable bibliographic artifact due to evident physical wear and aging.
