Presented here is a rare late nineteenth-century artistic album, “Fantastic Tales by Nikolai V. Gogol”, published in 1892 in Saint Petersburg by the publisher Evgeny Evdokimov. This renowned illustrated edition, which was also distributed as a supplement to the journal “Север” (The North), became a significant milestone in the history of Russian book illustration. The album features high-quality reproductions of watercolours by leading artists of the period, including Ilya Repin, Mikhail Zichy, Mikhail Klodt, and others.
