The Presidential Library has prepared a virtual exhibition titled "Gasim bey Zakir," showcasing the rich literary heritage of Gasim bey Zakir, an outstanding figure of 19th-century Azerbaijani literature, a pioneer of critical realism in poetry, and a master of satire.

Gasim bey Zakir, who holds an exceptional position in the history of national literature and belonged to the prominent Javanshir clan of Garabagh, skillfully reflected the social injustices, ignorance, and unfairness of his era in his sharp satire. In addition to successfully continuing the traditions of Molla Panah Vagif, he played an important role in the development of critical realism in Azerbaijani literature. The poet made a great contribution to the development of artistic thought through his lyrical goshmas (verse form), verse narratives, and fables; at the same time, he participated closely in the dissemination of progressive ideas by establishing close creative ties with the leading intellectuals of his time, primarily Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh.

The virtual exhibition presents users with books, research papers, periodical press materials, and rich bibliographical sources related to the life path, complex destiny, artistic creativity, and activities of the prominent master of the word within the Garabagh literary environment in Shusha. Serving as a valuable resource for researchers, teachers, and students, as well as a broad audience of readers interested in our classical literature, the exhibition promotes the deep study and dissemination of the poet's rich heritage.
