A new virtual collection dedicated to the work of Sabir Rustamkhanli, People’s Poet of Azerbaijan, has been presented in the “Literary Heritage” subsection of the “Collections” section of the Presidential Library. The project has been prepared with the aim of systematically presenting the poet’s literary heritage and multifaceted public and social activity, as well as making the principal aspects of his creative legacy accessible to a broad readership.

Occupying a distinctive place in modern Azerbaijani literary and public thought, Sabir Rustamkhanli is recognized as one of the prominent literary figures who, over the past half century, has played an important role in the formation of national consciousness, the development of poetry inspired by the spirit of independence, and the emergence of civic journalism. He is distinguished not only as a poet but also as a literary scholar, publicist, and public figure through his wide-ranging activity. Themes of national identity, historical memory, the idea of freedom, the pain of a divided homeland, and a sense of moral responsibility occupy a central place in his work.

The virtual collection systematically presents the author’s journalistic writings published in different years, articles devoted to his work, books reflecting his public and political activity, as well as materials highlighting the principal stages of his life and literary career. The collection also features a wide range of sources that provide insight into Sabir Rustamkhanli’s literary and philosophical views, the evolution of his poetic thinking, and his place in the history of Azerbaijani public thought.  

The project serves as an important information resource for researchers, philologists, teachers, students, library users, and readers interested in literature, providing comprehensive information on the work of Sabir Rustamkhanli while also enabling users to follow the development of themes such as national consciousness, the idea of national independence, and historical memory in modern Azerbaijani literature.
