The fund of the Presidential Library has been enriched with a 22-volume complete collection of one of the significant examples of Western Azerbaijani press – the newspaper “Vedibasar”, as well as its electronic versions. Each volume of the newspaper is systematized by years, published in both print and electronic form. Thus, it is also available for users in PDF format, in the “Electronic Books” section.

The newspaper “Vedibasar”, first published on February 27, 2003, is one of the regular publications in the Azerbaijani press dedicated to the social, political, and cultural life of Western Azerbaijan. For a long time, the newspaper has covered current topics related to the region’s history, national-cultural heritage, customs, traditions, and folklore, becoming a valuable source of information for a wide audience of readers.

The pages of “Vedibasar” systematically cover the tragic events that have occurred in Western Azerbaijan, such as genocides, deportations, and forced resettlement. The newspaper stands out for its ideological position, supporting the concept of returning to Western Azerbaijan. In this context, “Vedibasar” is considered as a continuation of the traditions of Western Azerbaijani press, inheriting the spirit of historical publications such as “Lek-lek”, “Burkhani khagigat”, “Ranjbar”, “Zangi”, “Gizil Shafag”, and “Sovetskaya Armenia”.

The Collection features articles written by renowned scholars and public figures such as Yusif Yusufov, Israfil Mammadov, Sabir Asadov, Suleyman Mammadov, Teymur Ahmadov, Nazim Mustafa, Aziz Alakbarli, and other prominent individuals. The works of poets and writers like Farman Karimzadeh, Hidayat, Eldar Ismayil, Telli Panahgizi, Nasibe Israfilgizi, Rafik Musa, Ahmad Vedili, Abulfaz Ulvi, Makharram Huseynov, and other literary figures have enriched the content of the newspaper.

Due to the dedicated work of the newspaper’s chief editor, Sartib Islamoglu, all issues of “Vedibasar” have been compiled and issued by year into separate volumes, and donated to the Presidential Library. This set serves as a priceless source for studying the history of national press and issues related to Western Azerbaijan.

Electronic versions of the newspaper “Vedibasar” can be accessed in the “Electronic Books” subsection of the “Collections” section on the Presidential Library website.
