Presidential Library Launches Virtual Exhibition on Khurshidbanu Natavan's Life and Work

A virtual exhibition dedicated to the rich heritage of Khurshidbanu Natavan, an outstanding poet, public figure, and philanthropist, and one of the brightest figures of the 19th-century Azerbaijani literary-cultural environment and enlightenment movement, has been prepared at the Presidential Library.

Khurshidbanu Natavan, the daughter of the last ruler of the Garabagh Khanate, Mehdigulu Khan, and the granddaughter of Ibrahimkhalil Khan, rendered exceptional services to the development of Azerbaijani national literature and culture. She actively participated in the complex historical processes of her era, striving to preserve national-spiritual values and to form an environment of free thought. The poetess gathered the artists of her time through her famous literary society, Məclisi-üns, which she organized in Shusha. In addition to her classical poetic heritage, she is also remembered for her large-scale philanthropic activities, such as building a water pipeline to Shusha using her personal funds.

The virtual exhibition features books, scholarly works, periodicals, and bibliographic sources on Natavan's life, artistic and poetic heritage, socio-cultural activities, and her leadership role in the Garabagh literary environment. In addition to researchers, teachers, and students, the exhibition serves as a useful resource for a broad readership interested in the history of Azerbaijani culture and poetry, creating extensive opportunities to study and promote the poet's rich heritage.

Not only does this virtual exhibition systematically showcase the outstanding artist’s multifaceted career and contributions to our literary heritage, but it also provides a deeper insight into her unique place in the history of national poetry and her unforgettable service to the nation.
