On June 19, 2026, as part of the "Return to Western Azerbaijan" congress-festival, the Director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova, and library staff participated in the congress segment held at Nakhchivan State University.

Speaking at the congress, the Director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova, highlighted that the topic of Western Azerbaijan holds a significant place in our nation’s historical and cultural heritage. She stated that the Presidential Library consistently and purposefully works to preserve historical heritage, systematize reliable sources on the subject, and present them to the public.

Professor Afet Abbasova stated that the "Western Azerbaijan" electronic information resource, developed by the Presidential Library, systematically organizes and makes available to users books, articles, archival documents, maps, and other valuable sources related to the subject. She also noted that through the virtual exhibition titled "Western Azerbaijan: Historical Memory and Cultural Heritage," materials reflecting our historical and cultural heritage are presented to a broader audience. The Director of the Presidential Library emphasized the significant importance of such projects for promoting the realities of Western Azerbaijan, preserving historical memory, and transmitting national and spiritual heritage to future generations.

Following Professor Afet Abbasova's speech, Nazim Mustafa, Advisor to the Director of the Presidential Library and Doctor of Philosophy in History, delivered a report. He stated that the Presidential Library carries out an important information and cultural mission to preserve and pass on to future generations Azerbaijan's historical heritage, national memory, and traditions of statehood. Within this framework, the topic of Western Azerbaijan receives special attention as one of the library's priority areas.

Nazim Mustafa noted that more than 50 electronic information projects covering various areas have been developed and made available to users at the Presidential Library. These resources make a significant contribution to the study, scholarly research, and dissemination of Azerbaijan's political history, statehood traditions, national and spiritual values, and the historical events our people have faced.

During the Congress, staff members of the Presidential Library presented the library's information resources and digital projects. Tunjay Huseynzadeh, Head of the Software Group of the Library Automation, Digitization, and Electronic Resources Section, introduced the official website of the Presidential Library. Kamala Gasimova, Head of the Information Resources on the President, Public Administration, and Country Studies Section, presented the "Western Azerbaijan" electronic project. Zakir Ismayilov, Head of the Library Automation, Digitization, and Electronic Resources Section, introduced the WUF13 project. Participants were also shown a short video titled "Mirza Gadim Iravani" and provided with information about the virtual exhibition "Western Azerbaijan: Historical Memory and Cultural Heritage." The resources and projects presented reflected the Presidential Library's digital information capabilities, highlighting its efforts to preserve and promote scientific and cultural heritage and generating significant interest among the attendees.

In addition, an exhibition of books donated by the Presidential Library to Nakhchivan State University was also organized as part of the event. The publications displayed at the exhibition are of particular importance for enriching the university's scientific and informational resources, and for strengthening the informational support of the educational process and research activities.

Later, the handover of the books donated to Nakhchivan State University was presented to the university's rector, Elbrus Isayev, by the director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova.

Elbrus Isayev, the Rector of Nakhchivan State University, expressed his gratitude to the Presidential Library for the attention and the valuable book donation. He stated that the donated publications would contribute to the university's teaching and research activities. He expressed confidence that existing cooperation with the Presidential Library would expand further and be enriched with new joint projects in the future.
