On April 8, 2025, the presentation of the fundamental scientific work “Western Azerbaijan: Facts, Documents, Realities” was held at the administrative building of the Western Azerbaijan Community. The author of the book is Nazim Mustafa, employee of the Presidential Library, member of the Board of Directors of the Western Azerbaijan Community, Doctor of Philosophy in History, and State Prize Winner. The event was attended by public and political figures, historians, media representatives, as well as Director of the Presidential Library, member of the Women’s Council of the Western Azerbaijan Community, Professor Afat Abbasova.
This publication, which was highly appreciated by the participants of the event, has an important scientific and public significance from the point of view of restoration and preservation of the historical memory of the Azerbaijani people. The author emphasized in his speech that the book, representing a systematic scientific study of the realities of the Western Azerbaijan, provides extensive information on the tragedies faced by our compatriots living in these lands - genocides, deportations, ethnic cleansing policies, and covers these historical facts on the basis of documents, archival materials and real events.
The work entitled “Western Azerbaijan: Facts, Documents, Realities” also details the policy of occupation and destruction carried out by Armenians resettled from Iran and Turkey in the lands of the Western Azerbaijan, the participation of the Western Azerbaijanis in World War II, the criminal changes of Azerbaijani toponyms, the historical Azerbaijani identity of the city of Iravan, and the historical and political foundations of the idea of the Great Return to the Western Azerbaijan.
The book is not only the result of extensive research carried out in this field, but also an important publication that serves to preserve our national identity, historical roots and territorial memory. The Presidential Library continues its activities to popularise such scientific works and introduce them to a wide range of readers.
