September 20 holds a significant place in the annals of Azerbaijani history over the past two centuries. According to the Decree signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, September 20 is celebrated annually as State Sovereignty Day, as well as the Day of the Cities of Khankendi, Khojaly, Khojavend, and Aghdara. This decision symbolizes the restoration of state sovereignty and the assurance of territorial integrity.

On September 19, 2023, in response to large-scale provocations in the Karabakh economic region, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched an anti-terror operation. The operation lasted for only 23 hours and concluded on the 20th, resulting in the disarmament of the remaining Armenian armed forces and their withdrawal from the territories. Constitutional order was restored in those areas, and state sovereignty was fully ensured. As a result of these processes, the tricolor flag began to fly again in all regions where sovereignty was established.

As part of the events dedicated to the restoration of state sovereignty and this significant date, a book exhibition titled “September 20 - State Sovereignty Day” has been organized at the Presidential Library. The exhibition features publications related to the April battles, the Tovuz clashes, the 44-day Patriotic War, and recent events. The display provides readers with sources and chronicle materials regarding the military-political strategy implemented by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the bravery of the Azerbaijani soldier, and the sacrifices of our martyrs.

The exhibition offers readers the opportunity to systematically follow the historical processes our country has undergone in recent years and to obtain information from reliable sources about the restoration of state sovereignty.
