On April 28, 2025, an event was held at the Presidential Library commemorating the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the eminent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
The event was inaugurated by the director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova, who emphasized the fundamental research conducted by Zarifa Aliyeva in the field of ophthalmology, her scientific achievements, and invaluable contributions to the development of Azerbaijani healthcare. Professor Abbasova emphasized that Zarifa Aliyeva brought light not only to people’s eyes but also to their hearts with her sincerity and dedication to humanistic values, forever etching her name in the spiritual memory of our people.
Then a video clip, detailing the life and achievements of the academician Zarifa Aliyeva was showcased. Also, participants were introduced to a virtual exhibition “Zarifa Aliyeva” prepared by the Presidential Library as part of the event. The exhibition, enriched with books about her life, scientific achievements, and great contribution to social development, provided an opportunity to each participant to have a deeper connection to the invaluable spiritual legacy of Zarifa Aliyeva.
The Deputy Director of the Presidential Library Kamala Sarijalinskaya, as well as Farida Namazova, head of the group of the Art literature collection spoke about the significant life journey and accomplishments in both scientific and public endeavors of the distinguished scientist in their presentations. During the event, excerpts from the memoirs of scientists and cultural figures about Zarifa Aliyeva were recited.
At the conclusion of the event, attendees were acquainted with a book exhibition organized at the Presidential Library showcasing books that shed light on the life and work of academician Zarifa Aliyeva. The exhibition featured scholarly works by the scientist and books written about her.
