A virtual collection dedicated to the literary heritage of the prominent Azerbaijani writer, playwright, literary scholar, critic, public figure, People’s Writer, and Professor Elchin Efendiyev has been presented in the “Literary Heritage” subsection of the “Collections” section of the Presidential Library.

The collection includes Elchin Efendiyev’s literary, journalistic, and literary-critical works published in different periods, his dramatic works, as well as publications devoted to his life and work. The materials presented in the collection comprehensively reflect his role in the formation and development of Azerbaijani literary thought, the artistic and aesthetic innovations he introduced to Azerbaijani prose, and the multifaceted nature of his literary activity.

Elchin Efendiyev is among the writers who played a significant role in the development of modern Azerbaijani literature. In his novels, novellas, short stories, and plays, the inner world of the individual, the social and psychological problems of society, historical memory, and national and spiritual values become subjects of profound artistic interpretation. In works devoted to both the distant and recent historical past, the writer consistently focused on the preservation and promotion of the spiritual and moral values of the Azerbaijani people.

Films based on the author’s screenplays have become part of the golden collection of Azerbaijani cinema, while his plays have been staged in various theatres. The works of Elchin Efendiyev, translated into many foreign languages, have gained wide recognition on the international literary scene. At the same time, as a critic and literary scholar, he contributed to the development of literary thought through scholarly and theoretical studies devoted to classical heritage and contemporary literary processes, as well as through portrait essays.
 
He has taken an active part in the country’s public, political, and cultural life and has consistently worked toward strengthening the ties of Azerbaijanis living abroad with their historical homeland. This activity reflects his commitment to the ideology of Azerbaijanism and his active involvement in public and cultural processes.

The virtual collection prepared by the Presidential Library aims to ensure the systematic preservation of Elchin Efendiyev’s rich literary heritage in digital format and to make it accessible to a broad readership.
