A book entitled Karabağ Hanlığı’nın Mimari Tarihi (History of the Architecture of the Karabakh Khanate), authored by historian Elnara Madatova, has been added to the collection of the Presidential Library.

Based on extensive scholarly research, the book is devoted to the history of architectural monuments belonging to the Turkic-Islamic cultural world that existed within the territory of the Karabakh Khanate. The Khanate was established by Panah Ali Khan in the mid-eighteenth century in the territories of present-day Azerbaijan situated between the Kura and Aras rivers and Lake Goycha.

The study examines defensive, religious, and civil architectural structures dating from the period of the Karabakh Khanate and provides a systematic analysis of their history, architectural characteristics, and cultural significance.

The primary motivation for undertaking this study was the absence in the existing academic literature of an independent and comprehensive scholarly work devoted specifically to the architectural history of the Karabakh Khanate. Through this publication, the author seeks to address this significant gap in scholarship and to provide a systematic study of the architectural heritage of the Karabakh Khanate.

The research considers the architectural heritage of the Karabakh Khanate not only from the perspective of the history of individual structures but also within their broader architectural and cultural context. In this regard, the book may serve as an important scholarly source for the study of the historical and cultural heritage of the Karabakh Khanate, the architectural traditions that developed in the region, and future research in this field.

The inclusion of Karabağ Hanlığı’nın Mimari Tarihi (History of the Architecture of the Karabakh Khanate) in the collection of the Presidential Library is significant in terms of making scholarly research in this field accessible to a wider readership and research community.
