According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated 31 July 2023, 25 November is observed as “Kalbajar City Day”. On this occasion, a book exhibition dedicated to the liberation, history, and rich cultural heritage of Kalbajar has been organized at the Presidential Library. The exhibition presents various publications on the district’s history, culture, the period of occupation, and the post-liberation restoration and reconstruction processes.
The exposition showcases books, scholarly-publicistic editions, and collections of articles reflecting the Victory in the Patriotic War, the liberation of Kalbajar, and the district’s socio-economic revival. The exhibition also provides a comprehensive overview of the measures undertaken to restore Kalbajar’s cultural heritage, rebuild the city’s former appearance, and re-establish normal life in the region.
The counter-offensive operations launched by the Azerbaijani Army on 27 September 2020 concluded with a complete Victory for our country and the enemy’s capitulation under the leadership of the President and Commander-in-Chief, Ilham Aliyev.
During the 44-day Patriotic War, the Azerbaijani President’s diplomatic skill, principled stance, and iron will, along with the glorious Victory of the Azerbaijani Army, compelled Armenia to sign the act of capitulation and withdraw from the occupied territories.
This Victory put an end to the nation’s longing for Karabakh, and the Kalbajar district was handed over to the Republic of Azerbaijan without a single shot being fired.
According to the Joint Statement signed by the President of Azerbaijan, the President of Russia, and the Prime Minister of Armenia, the Kalbajar district was fully vacated by the Armenian armed forces on 25 November 2020. All settlements of the district, including the city of Kalbajar, were liberated from occupation, and Azerbaijan’s sovereignty was restored.
At the current stage, large-scale restoration and reconstruction works are being carried out in Kalbajar. Following its liberation from occupation, comprehensive projects aimed at renewing the road and transport infrastructure, constructing social facilities, restoring residential settlements, and re-establishing daily life in the district have been rapidly implemented under the attention and supervision of President Ilham Aliyev.
The book exhibition organized by the Presidential Library serves as an important source of information for gaining a deeper understanding of Kalbajar’s history and cultural heritage, as well as for assessing the nature and significance of the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories.
