The Presidential Library has received a book dedicated to the work of Gara Garayev, a prominent Azerbaijani composer and educator, People's Artist of the USSR and the Azerbaijan SSR, and Academician.

The book titled "20. Yüzyıl Azerbaycan Müziği ve Kara Karayev Eserlerinde Doğu-Batı Etkileşimi" (20th Century Azerbaijani Music and the East-West Interaction in the Works of Gara Garayev), written in Turkish by Parviz Musayev, has been donated by the author to the Presidential Library. Published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, the book was printed in Ankara in 2025 and is dedicated to 20th-century Azerbaijani music and Gara Garayev's creative output. Parviz Musayev completed his bachelor's degree at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory and his master's degree at Istanbul University. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Gazi University's Institute of Educational Sciences.

The publication explores the role of intellectuals, social processes, and composers' body of work in shaping Azerbaijani musical culture and offers a general overview of 20th-century Azerbaijani music. It also provides an extensive analysis of Gara Garayev's life and career, his role in developing the school of composition in 20th-century Azerbaijani music, and the East-West mutual influence manifested in his works.

The book analyzes Gara Garayev’s symphonic engravings "Don Quixote," the ballets "Seven Beauties" and "The Path of Thunder," and his Third Symphony separately. Based on these works, the book explores the interplay between Eastern and Western musical traditions in the composer's oeuvre. The publication also features excerpts from Gara Garayev's works and photographs from his personal documents.

Bringing together material on Gara Garayev's creative work, the developmental stages of 20th-century Azerbaijani music, and the interplay of national musical traditions in an East-West context, this book is a valuable resource for musicologists, researchers, students, and other readers interested in Azerbaijan's musical heritage. The Presidential Library's inclusion of the book in its collection facilitates research on Gara Garayev's work and 20th-century Azerbaijani music.
