The Director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova, was on an official visit to Ankara and Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, from 3 to 7 November 2025. During the visit, Professor Abbasova participated in various international events and held a series of professional meetings focused on modern technologies in the library and information field.
On 4–5 November 2025, Professor Afet Abbasova participated in the “ANKOSLink 2025” International Conference held in Ankara. The opening ceremony featured addresses by Ayhan Tuğlu, Director of the Nation’s Library of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye; İsmail Çetinkaya, President of ANKOS (Anatolian University Libraries Consortium); and Erol Özvar, Minister of Education of Türkiye. Within the framework of the event, panel discussions and presentations were held on topics including “Library 5.0: Human Re-Centered Digital Transformation,” “Preserving Digital Content and Ensuring Continuous Access in Libraries” “Artificial Intelligence and Ethics,” “Researcher Expectations in University Libraries in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” and “Reconstructing Academic Knowledge through Artificial Intelligence and the Competencies of Librarians.”
During the conference, Professor Afet Abbasova met with representatives of Wiley, IEEE Xplore, SOBIAD, JoVE, Sage, Muteferriqa, Elsevier, EBSCO, and other international publishers and databases to discuss opportunities for cooperation and explore the potential implementation of new platforms. In addition, Professor Abbasova visited the restoration laboratory of the Nation’s Library of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, where she observed the methods used for restoring damaged books, the chemical and natural materials applied in the process, as well as the specialized tools employed in restoration work.
From 6 to 7 November, Professor Abbasova visited Istanbul at the invitation of Archive Design Information Systems Inc. During the visit, the YORDAM Library Automation System and the ARXIVIST Archival Document Management System were demonstrated in detail, and the questions raised by the Director of the Presidential Library were comprehensively addressed. During her visit to the Rami National Library, Professor Abbasova observed the process of integrating newly received books into the library’s automation system, examined the special storage facility where the book collection is preserved, and became acquainted with the work of the laboratories responsible for the restoration of manuscript materials.
This official visit played an important role in enabling the Presidential Library to study international experience in the application and development of modern library and information technologies, as well as to assess the potential implementation of automation and archival management systems. At the same time, the meetings held and the events attended contributed to expanding cooperation prospects in the library and information field.
