On August 26, professors from Atatürk University located in Erzurum, Turkey, Yavuz Aslan and his wife Betül Aslan visited the Presidential Library. During the meeting, the scholars presented their publications, which are the results of their scientific research, to the library.

Both scholars have been conducting research related to Azerbaijan for many years. In the early 1990s, they were on an academic assignment at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences for two years, during which they examined documents in Baku archives. The scholars, who periodically send copies of their books published in Turkey to the Presidential Library, this time visited the library with their new publications.

Among the books gifted by Prof. Dr. Betül Aslan are “Kardaş Kömeği ve Bakü Müslüman Cemiyet-i Hayriyesi” (“Brotherly Aid and the Baku Muslim Charitable Society”) and “Türkiye-Azerbaycan İlişkileri ve İbrahim Ebilov (1920–1923)” (“Turkey–Azerbaijan Relations and İbrahim Ebilov (1920–1923)”. The first book covers the aid and rescue activities provided by Azerbaijan to the Turkish-Muslim population in Eastern Anatolia during the First World War. The second book highlights the activities of İbrahim Ebilov, who served as the ambassador of Soviet Azerbaijan to Turkey, his personal friendship with Atatürk, political relations between the two countries, and the unconditional support extended by Azerbaijan to Turkey.

Prof. Dr. Yavuz Aslan presented the books “Doğu Halkları Kurultayı (1–7 Eylül 1920 – Bakü)” (“Congress of the Eastern Peoples (September 1–7, 1920 – Baku”) and “Mustafa Kemal – M. Frunze Görüşmeleri.” (“The Meetings between Mustafa Kemal and M. Frunze”). The first book presents the participants and resolutions of the First Congress of Eastern Peoples held in Baku in September 1920, while the second analyzes Soviet-Turkish relations based on archival documents.

The Director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova expressed her gratitude to the guests for enriching the library’s collection, wished them success in their academic endeavors, and emphasized that these gifts contribute to the strengthening of cultural and scholarly relations between the two countries.
