The Presidential Library continually expands its virtual collection of rare books with new and valuable publications. The latest additions stand out for their thematic diversity as well as their refined artistic design. French children’s literature and adventure stories from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as German-language travelogues and samples of classical poetry, are of particular interest to readers.
The collection includes “Hans Mertens” by Henri Carnouan (published in 1909), “Les Expédients de Farandole” (The Tricks of Farandole) by Pierre Perrault (1910), Petite Mère (Little Mother) by Élise de Pressensé (late 19th century), Mark Twain’s “Meine Reise um die Welt” (My Journey Around the World) published in German in 1903, and the beautifully produced 1944 edition of Shota Rustaveli’s “Витязь в тигровой шкуре” (The Knight in the Panther’s Skin).
These publications are distinguished not only by their variety of themes but also by their typographic elegance and their historical and cultural value. They are living witnesses to the eras of their authors, the literary milieu of the time, and the tastes of their readership. Annotations prepared in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English accompany each book, making this literary heritage accessible to a wide audience.
The Presidential Library aims to showcase the finest examples from its rare collection and to enrich this treasure with new discoveries. After exploring the virtual collection, book lovers are encouraged to visit the library in person, where they can examine rare editions firsthand and experience the magic of classical literature tangibly.
