The Art Books Collection subsection of the Presidential Library’s Collections section has been enriched with new publications reflecting the rich musical heritage of the Azerbaijani people. The digital resource presents annotations of scholarly works, textbooks, and monographs about Azerbaijani music — an art form that has enriched the treasury of world musical culture with its rare masterpieces — as well as the creative legacy of prominent Azerbaijani artists. These materials are available to a wide audience in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English.

Alongside publications reflecting the history and genre diversity of Azerbaijani music, the collection also includes annotations of scholarly works devoted to the musical culture of Turkic peoples. Among them are Lala Huseynova’s “Music of the Turkic Peoples”, Rauf Bahmanli’s “Dance Melodies of Master Ali Dada”, Minakhanim Taklali’s “Azerbaijani Folk Songs”, and other valuable studies.

The art of mugham, which forms the foundation of Azerbaijan’s national music, occupies a special place in the collection. In this regard, annotations of publications such as “Rhythmic Mughams” and “Performance Traditions in the Art of Mugham” are presented for the attention of the musical community.

At the same time, the collection includes descriptions of publications such as “The Ascension of Mugham,” dedicated to the world-renowned mugham performer and People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Alim Qasimov, and “Bulbul — The Pinnacle of Vocal Art,” highlighting the creative legacy of the great artist and founder of the Azerbaijani vocal school, Maestro Bulbul.

The collection also features annotations of the scholarly work “The Azerbaijani National Musical Instrument — Tar” and the catalog “The Treasury of Azerbaijani Musical Instruments,” both dedicated to the rich tradition of Azerbaijan’s national musical instruments.

The materials gathered in this section serve the preservation, promotion, and international recognition of Azerbaijan’s musical heritage. The presentation of digital resources in three languages ensures accessibility for users of different linguistic backgrounds and contributes to the expansion of the library’s research activities at the international level.

It should be noted that the Art Books Collection of the Presidential Library preserves valuable books, albums, and exhibition catalogs covering various fields such as architecture, carpet weaving, decorative and applied arts, painting, graphics, photography, music, theatre, and cinema. The collection also offers access to rare publications on the art of different nations around the world.

The ongoing development of the collection is an integral part of the Presidential Library’s consistent efforts to preserve and promote the national cultural heritage. These resources serve as a valuable source for researchers, students, musicians, and art enthusiasts, contributing to the transmission of Azerbaijan’s musical heritage to new generations and its recognition within the international scholarly community.
