In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated 31 July 2023, October 25 is celebrated as “Gubadli City Day.” On this occasion, the Presidential Library has organized a book exhibition dedicated to the liberation, history, and rich cultural heritage of the city of Gubadli.

The exhibition features publications highlighting the history and culture of the Gubadli district, the period of occupation, as well as the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts following liberation. The display also includes books reflecting the Victory achieved in the Patriotic War, the liberation of Gubadli, and the district’s social and economic revival.

The liberation of Gubadli city was made possible as a result of counter-offensive operations launched by the Azerbaijani Army on September 27, 2020. On the 27th day of the battles — October 23 — Azerbaijani forces entered the Gubadli district and liberated several settlements from occupation. On October 25, 2020, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan fully liberated the city of Gubadli, achieving a significant strategic milestone in restoring the country’s territorial integrity.

At present, the restoration and socio-economic reconstruction of Gubadli city stand among the state’s top priorities. Due to its geographically strategic location, Gubadli is expected to play a key role in transportation and logistics connections along the Zangilan and Lachin corridors. Under the city’s development concept, expansion to an area of up to 505 hectares and a population growth to 14,000 are envisioned, along with the establishment of infrastructure based on “green city” principles and the integration of agriculture, aquaculture, agritourism, and light industry sectors.

The exhibition presented by the Presidential Library offers visitors an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the history and cultural heritage of Gubadli, explore the period of occupation, and acquaint themselves with publications that document the city’s liberation.
