The death of Elchin Afandiyev — a prominent representative of Azerbaijani literature, People’s Writer, and statesman — has caused profound sorrow for the literary community and our entire nation. His rich literary legacy, loyalty to national and spiritual values, and multifaceted activities constitute a great heritage for Azerbaijani culture. As an active participant in shaping a new stage of our literature, the artist consistently focused on promoting the moral and ethical values of our people in his novels, novellas, short stories, and plays reflecting both the distant and recent history of our nation. The films based on Elchin’s screenplays enjoyed great success and became part of the golden fund of Azerbaijani cinema.

As a literary critic and scholar, Elchin Afandiyev made significant contributions to the development of the literary environment through his valuable theoretical and scholarly works, portrait-essays, and writings on classical heritage and contemporary literary processes.

As a sign of deep respect for the dear memory of Elchin Afandiyev, an exhibition reflecting the writer’s life and creative work has been organized at the Presidential Library.
