The Presidential Library conducts consistent activities aimed at preserving national memory, systematically compiling historical truth, and communicating it to the public based on reliable sources. Within this mission, the e-project titled "20 January. Aggression 1990," presented to users, serves as an important scientific and informational resource for the comprehensive study of the political, legal, and moral aspects of the January 20 tragedy.
The sub-section "Analysis of the Tragedy" of the project presents the January 20 events not only in chronological order but also within an analytical framework. It provides a comprehensive overview of the political assessment given by National Leader Heydar Aliyev regarding the tragedy, the legal aspects of the events, the connection of Bloody January to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the geopolitical reasons, and the national factor. Additionally, the moral and psychological effects of the tragedy on the public consciousness are also highlighted.
One of the notable sections of the project is the "Martyrs" section. This part provides an overview of the lives of the sons of the homeland who lost their lives during the January 20 tragedy, accompanied by new facts and biographical information. Expanded biographical materials on martyrs, for which limited information was available for a long time, along with previously unavailable photographs, are included in the resource. This approach holds particular significance for commemorating the martyrs and preserving the integrity of historical memory.
As part of the project, official documents related to the tragedy, materials on state-level memorial ceremonies, full texts of analytical articles, a bibliography of books, and rare photo and video archive materials have been systematically compiled. This extensive database serves as a reliable reference source for researchers, historians, journalists, and a broad audience interested in the subject.
The presentation of the e-resource in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian aims to effectively communicate the facts related to the January 20 tragedy to the international community. The project holds significant scientific and informational importance in terms of presenting the tragedy on a global level objectively, conducting scientific research, and disseminating historical facts without distortion. The "20 January. Aggression 1990" e-project has been developed as a digital resource that is enhanced in this direction and made available for researchers.
