On May 27-30, 2025, Professor Afet Abbasova - Director of the Presidential Library of the Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, along with Sonakhanim Abasova - Chief Consultant and Head of the Library-Bibliographic Services Section, and Jale Gurbanli - Chief Consultant and Head of the Library Collection Section, undertook an official business trip to the cities of Tashkent and Samarkand in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On May 27, the staff of the Presidential Library participated in an official reception organized in honor of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held in Tashkent at the invitation of Huseyn Guliyev, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
From May 28 to 30, they participated in the international event titled “HERITAGE TURQUOISE,” held at the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand. Organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, relevant institutions and departments, local municipalities, NGOs, private sector organizations, as well as cultural and tourism agencies, the event was dedicated to showcasing new trends, modern systems, and technologies in the field of cultural heritage. It featured companies operating in restoration technologies, archaeology, museum and library work, and cultural tourism. Delegates from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Russia, China, India, European countries, and Turkic states attended the event. Within the framework of the event, the delegation of the Presidential Library familiarized themselves with an exhibition reflecting Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
They also visited the Centre of Culture named after Heydar Aliyev located in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan. At the center, they were introduced to the Heydar Aliyev Museum, a museum dedicated to Azerbaijani history and statehood, the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Friendship Museum, the “Patterns of the Land of Fire” Azerbaijani Carpets Museum and Exhibition Hall, as well as the library. Professor Afet Abbasova, Director of the Presidential Library, presented to Akif Maarifli, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Culture Center named after Heydar Aliyev, the book titled “Welcome to Azerbaijan”, authored by Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Masmakhanim Gaziyeva. The book reflects the history, geography, political and legal structure, education and healthcare systems, religious diversity, arts, folklore, and traditions of Azerbaijan.
The book was also presented as a gift to Huseyn Guliyev, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, during a meeting with the ambassador.
