In accordance with the relevant Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 26 August is annually celebrated in the country as Lachin City Day.
This significant date commemorates the historic achievement of restoring Azerbaijan’s full control over the city of Lachin on 26 August 2022 and the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity.
To mark this occasion, the Presidential Library has prepared a virtual exhibition dedicated to “26 August – Lachin City Day.”
The virtual exhibition features publications highlighting the rich history of Lachin, its national and cultural heritage, folklore, and natural landscapes, as well as materials documenting the city’s condition during the occupation and its liberation. The exhibition also includes materials covering the large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects being implemented in Lachin, modern infrastructure initiatives, and the ongoing Great Return process.
The exhibition aims to provide a broad readership with an insight into Lachin’s historical development, national and spiritual values, and its significant place in the history of Azerbaijani statehood and the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity.
Through the publications presented at the virtual exhibition, readers can explore Lachin’s historical and cultural heritage, the history of its occupation and liberation, the city’s present-day development, ongoing reconstruction and development projects, and its prospects for future growth.
