Town planning and architecture of Azerbaijan in the XIX - early XX centuries

Analysis of big and small towns of Azerbaijan is provided and their planification, composition and artistic sides are elucidated in the monograph. A special place in the works was assigned to Baku as a city with a rapid development where basic principles of town-planning art of capitalistic epoch are widely presented in. The architecture of capitalism epoch in Azerbaijan of the XIX - at the beginning of the XX centuries has not been examined almost. In essence, none of the construction of that period was not elucidated in publications of general character not counting fixation of existence facts. This architecture has remained out of researches' view until recently as the years of its development were considered the period of architecture decadence. Today position towards the architecture of the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries changed. Its development began to be considered in a common link with the process of modern architecture formation Aim of present research is detection of development ways of architecture and town planning in Azerbaijan in the XIX - early XX centuries, research of originality and characteristic peculiarities of national art of building in the concerned period in depths of which development preconditions of modern Azerbaijan architecture were arising The abundant material on planning and building of the cities of Azerbaijan and architecture of public constructions of the XIX - early XX century allowed the author to break this monograph into three sections: "Town building", "Architecture" and "Art orientation". It will help to expose originality and individuality better of the Azerbaijani cities, reveals that positive that was put on their basis at formation and development.
