The book "Head Jewelry of Azerbaijani Women", based on the collection of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, was published in 2023 by the decision of the Scientific Council of the museum. The museum’s Archaeology and Special Collections house a wide range of decorative items spanning a long period from the 6th millennium BC to the 20th century AD. This book catalogue presents various types of head ornaments worn by Azerbaijani women from the 19th century to the early 20th century, offering a thorough historical and ethnographic analysis. The traditional head jewelry of Azerbaijani women varied according to the techniques of jewelry making, form, artistic composition and differed based on social status and age group. The catalog displays sketches of various national Azerbaijani head jewelry techniques used by Azerbaijani jewelers, such as elements of filigree technique, "vov" elements (which resemble the Arabic letter "vav و"), enamel-flower, eshme-divara (a traditional decorative technique in Azerbaijani jewelry), and others. Additionally, while browsing through the catalog of national head jewelry samples (earrings, cages, tiaras, forehead ornaments, headpieces, chin bands, hooks), one can learn about the purposes for which Azerbaijani women used these pieces of jewelry.
