The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum holds a small but very interesting collection of jewelry, consisting of about 800 exhibits. Most of them date back to the late 19th – early 20th century, while the oldest pieces were created during the Bronze Age (4th–2nd millennium BCE). The collection includes almost all types of women's ornaments—earrings, bracelets, rings, pins, and buttons—crafted using techniques such as chasing, stamping, and engraving.
Jewelers, like artisans in other decorative and applied arts, drew inspiration from their native environment while developing and refining established artistic traditions. Everything surrounding the craftsmen—plants, animals, birds—was reflected in the imagery of their jewelry creations. The vast majority of the museum's jewelry collection, approximately 600 pieces, consists of ornaments, primarily women's jewelry. Additionally, the museum's holdings include a small number of household items along with men's accessories, such as traditional gold and silver belts and gazyrs, essential elements of men’s outerwear known as the "chukha".
The jewelry collection of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum not only reflects the high level of the nation's material culture but also attests to its enduring pursuit of beauty and keen perception of the world’s harmony. This artistic sensibility was embodied in the works of master craftsmen, many of whom attained true excellence in their art.
