Kəlağayı
The production of kelaghayi involves a complex and labor-intensive process that is quite specific. It encompasses various activities, including the preparation of silk fabric, weaving, the creation of molds, and the application of patterns through printing and dyeing. The art of kelaghayi production was forgotten during the Soviet era; however, thanks to the efforts of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, traditional methods of production were revived. At the 9th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Paris in 2014, the Traditional art and symbolism of Kelaghayi, making and wearing women’s silk headscarves, was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This book will provide you with extensive information about the history of kelaghayi, its production process, the stages of preparation, different types of kelaghayi, and the characteristics of its patterns. You will also explore the various types of kelaghayi and ancient pattern examples through photographs.
