This book catalog, compiled by Fazayil Valiyev and Gulzada Abdulova, is the first to study the clothing culture of the population of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It examines the classification, local characteristics, visual representation, and historical-ethnographic aspects of Garabagh attire.
The primary goal of this book catalog is to provide a scientific and ethnographic analysis, description, interpretation, and classification of Karabakh clothing. Through this, it aims to demonstrate that Karabakh’s clothing traditions were undoubtedly shaped within the broader Turkic ethno-cultural environment and to establish that these garments serve as bearers of the Azerbaijani people's national identity.
Published in 2006 as part of a grant project by the Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, this book-catalog is crucial in promoting Azerbaijan’s clothing culture within the context of global fashion heritage.
