This textbook contains information about the traditional musical culture of the Turkic peoples - folk art and professional musical genres with oral traditions, as well as national musical instruments. The book first examines the appearance of the Turks on the historical stage and their role, and also provides information on the origin and development of Turkology as a field of science. Then you can get extensive information about the genres and features of the national, traditional and modern music of the Turkic peoples living in Central Asia - Kyrgyz, Kazakhs, Turkmen, Uzbeks and Uighurs, Tatars, Bashkirs and other small Turkic peoples living within the Russian Federation, Gagauz and Karaites living in the Crimea, Turks living in the Near East (Anatolia), and finally, the Altaians, Tuvans, Sakha and Khakas living in Siberia. The textbook is intended for teaching the discipline "Music of the Turkic peoples" at the Higher Music College.
