This book is the author’s second monograph devoted to the study of the textual characteristics of songs by Azerbaijani composers. The first chapter examines the stylistic features of Azerbaijani song traditions. Particular attention is given to the interrelationship between poetry and music in the songs of prominent composers who have made significant contributions to the development of the national song genre; these issues are analyzed in separate sections of the study. For the first time, the research addresses the textual features of songs by Aghabaji Rzayeva, Gambar Huseynli, Zakir Baghirov, Haji Khanmammadov, Ashraf Abbasov, Jahangir Jahangirov, Rauf Hajiyev, Fikret Amirov, Shafiqa Akhundova, Suleyman Alasgarov, Telman Hajiyev, Ramiz Mirishli, Vasif Adigozalov, Sevda Ibrahimova, and Polad Bulbuloglu. The monograph is intended for specialists as well as for a broad readership.
