The book “Miracles at the Gates of the East” by publicist and artist Eldeniz Ibragimov is the first publication in the new series “Motherland in a Nutshell”. The first book, containing interesting materials about the Sheki-Zagatala region (Gabala, Oguz, Sheki, Gakh, Zagatala, Balaken districts), is written in three languages - Azerbaijani, English and Russian.
In one of the most beautiful regions of Azerbaijan – Sheki-Zagatala – you can come across wonders at every turn. The greatest wonder of this land is the holiness that is comparable to that of Jerusalem. Christianity was brought to Azerbaijan in the years 57-77 of 1st century AD by St. Elishe the Apostle. Upon his arrival in the land of Utii, the Kish village, St. Elishe built a church. About three centuries later Christianity spread to the neighboring Georgia and Armenia. The muslim monuments of this region also grace the eyes with their unique beauty.
The materials of this book will be useful to residents of our republic, our compatriots living abroad, and foreign tourists.
