





















































October 4, 2020, is remembered as one of the significant dates in the history of Azerbaijan. During the Patriotic War, the Azerbaijani Army liberated the city of Jabrayil from occupation through successful military operations. On the same day, along with the city of Jabrayil, the villages of Shukurbayli, Charakan, Dashkasan, Horovlu, Mahmudlu, Jafarabad, Yukhari Maralyan, Dajal and Karkhulu in Jabrayil district were also liberated. The liberation of Jabrayil was one of the major military achievements attained in the early days of the Patriotic War. During the counter-offensive operations launched on September 27, 2020, the villages of Boyuk Marjanli and Nuzgar in Jabrayil district were liberated, followed by several other villages of the district on October 3. The liberation of the city of Jabrayil on October 4 marked the completion of an important stage of military operations in the district. In his address to the nation on October 4, 2020, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev announced the liberation of the city of Jabrayil and nine villages of the district, describing it as a historic event. On that day, the news of the liberation of the city of Jabrayil was conveyed to the people of Azerbaijan. Following the liberation of the city of Jabrayil, the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was raised in the city. Subsequently, large-scale reconstruction and restoration work was launched in the city and the district. The return of former internally displaced persons to Jabrayil began on September 26, 2024. By the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 31, 2023, October 4 was established as Jabrayil City Day, to be celebrated annually. October 4 – Jabrayil City Day – commemorates a significant event in the history of Jabrayil. This date reflects the historic processes associated with the liberation of the city, its reconstruction and the return of its residents to their native land.
