Семь красавиц
In 1947, Ryurik Ivnev’s Russian translation of "Seven Beauties" —the masterpiece by the great 12th-century Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi—was published in Baku. The poem belongs to Nizami’s famous "Khamsa" ("Quintet") cycle and tells the story of the Sasanian ruler Bahram Gur and seven princesses from various countries. Through their narratives, the author explores love, justice, wisdom, moral self-improvement, and a ruler’s responsibility to the people. The work stands out for its rich poetic imagery, philosophical depth, and vivid character portraits. This edition is highly significant as it showcases one of the greatest works of classical Azerbaijani and world literature.
