The Presidential Library, in collaboration with the Sabail District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), organized an event on 29 June 2026 as part of the educational programme “We Study the Scientific and Political Legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev”. The event was held in the Library’s Reading Hall.
Held under the theme “National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Ideology of Azerbaijanism”, the event brought together students representing various higher education institutions alongside members of the Presidential Library staff.
At the beginning of the event, participants were acquainted with the Presidential Library’s activities, its rich collections, and the modern digital resources and services it offers to readers.
Addressing the audience, Mukhtar Naghiyev, Chairman of the Sabail District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, emphasized National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s exceptional contribution to strengthening Azerbaijani statehood, protecting the nation’s spiritual and cultural values, and advancing the ideology of Azerbaijanism. He also noted that the strategic course established by the National Leader continues to serve as one of the principal foundations of the country’s ongoing progress.
In her remarks, Professor Afet Abbasova, Director of the Presidential Library, emphasized the importance of studying and promoting Heydar Aliyev’s rich political and scholarly legacy among younger generations. She further outlined the Presidential Library’s ongoing activities in this field, presenting its digital information resources, research projects, and educational programmes dedicated to preserving and promoting the National Leader’s heritage.
A documentary film was then screened, illustrating the life and statesmanship of the National Leader and highlighting his historic contribution to the development of the ideology of Azerbaijanism.
Poet and composer Izolda Babayeva also highlighted the importance of cultivating patriotic values among young people and fostering their commitment to the national ideology. She also emphasized the significance of the event and its contribution to promoting these ideals.
During the event, the Presidential Library presented its comprehensive digital project, “HEYDAR ALIYEV. Collection of electronic documents”. Participants were informed that the project serves as a significant scholarly and information resource aimed to preserve, organize, and disseminate the National Leader’s rich legacy in the digital environment for the benefit of future generations.
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session featuring Professor Afet Abbasova, Director of the Presidential Library, who addressed a wide range of questions from students. The discussion focused on contemporary approaches to library services in the digital age, as well as National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s far-sighted language policy and its enduring role in preserving, developing, and promoting the Azerbaijani language.
