A meeting with prominent figures of culture and Art held at the Presidential Library

Meetings with intellectuals and art representatives have become a tradition at the Presidential Library. On October 24, 2025, the Presidential Library hosted another gathering with distinguished figures of Azerbaijani culture and art. The event was attended by Professor Afet Abbasova, Director of the Presidential Library; world-renowned photojournalist Reza Deghati; prominent Azerbaijani composer, People’s Artist, and Professor Siyavush Karimi; Deputy Director of the Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Honoured Artist Ramil Gasimov; and Deputy Chair of the “Culture that Unites Us” Public Association, Riad Guliyev.

At the start of the meeting, Professor Abbasova introduced the guests to the library’s activities, extensive collections, and ongoing projects. She emphasized that the Presidential Library places special importance on cooperation in science, culture, and art, highlighting that fostering new creative initiatives in these areas remains one of its main priorities.

During the discussion, participants explored possibilities for joint creative projects and new cultural initiatives. They shared views on potential collaborations in photojournalism, music, and exhibition activities. 
In a creative atmosphere, Honoured Artist Ramil Gasimov and People’s Artist Siyavush Karimi performed Jahangir Jahangirov’s “Alagöz” (lyrics by Zeynal Jabbarzade), one of the favorite songs of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as Karimi’s newly composed song “Sən yanımda ol” (“Be by My Side”) with lyrics by Shahnaz Hashimova.

At the end of the meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of sincere dialogue, the Director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova, expressed her gratitude to the guests and wished them continued creative success.

At the same time, Professor Afet Abbasova and photojournalist Reza Deghati discussed the possibility of organizing exhibitions dedicated to the Khojaly Genocide, featuring Deghati’s photographs, on the eve of the anniversary of the tragedy.

Through such meetings, the Presidential Library aims to continue contributing to the promotion of national cultural heritage, the strengthening of creative ties, and the expansion of cooperation with figures of culture and science.
