The Rare Books Fund of the Presidential Library continues to expand its virtual collection with new editions that encompass a broader thematic range. The books included in the collection are presented with consideration for their historical and cultural value as well as their artistic design, offering readers insight into the literary spirit of different eras. Novels, poetic anthologies, collections of aphorisms, and monumental historical studies dating from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century make this release particularly noteworthy.

This collection features Stanley John Weyman’s novel Sophia, published in 1900; The Rose, Thistle and Shamrock. A Book of English Poetry, Chiefly Modern – compilation prepared by Ferdinand Freiligrath and first released in 1881; Georg Büchmann’s Geflügelte Worte (Winged Words), published in Berlin in 1887; Z. Fleuriot’s novel Raoul Daubry, issued in Paris in 1896; and Paul Lacroix’s monumental work Directoire, Consulat et Empire (The Directory, the Consulate and the Empire), published in French in 1884.

One of the principal factors enhancing the significance of this collection is the high artistic quality of the books, their rich illustrative content, and their status as rare editions. These works are not merely texts but genuine cultural artefacts reflecting the artistic and intellectual values, as well as the tastes, of their time.

Annotations to each book, prepared in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English, help make this heritage accessible to a wide audience and transform the virtual collection into a scholarly and educational platform. The Presidential Library continues to share with readers the most valuable items from its rare holdings and strives to enrich this assemblage with new discoveries. After becoming acquainted with the virtual collection, book enthusiasts are invited to visit the library, where they can view the original copies of these rare editions and directly experience the voice of centuries and the enchantment of classical literature.
