A new virtual collection dedicated to the literary legacy of Mir Jalal Pashayev—an outstanding representative of 20th-century Azerbaijani literary thought, writer, and literary scholar—has been compiled in the “Literary Heritage” subsection of the “Collections” section of the Presidential Library.

The collection presents materials showcasing the multifaceted literary and scholarly activity of Mir Jalal Pashayev. As one of the prominent representatives of Azerbaijani prose, his work holds a significant place in the development of national literature, particularly in enhancing its thematic and conceptual richness. In the writer’s works, the synthesis of folk tradition and the finest traditions of classical literary heritage achieves a new artistic quality.  

Mir Jalal Pashayev is recognized as a writer who interprets pivotal moments in social history and the nation’s destiny through artistic analysis, engaging the reader in a sincere, thought-provoking reflection on life and time. His novels and short stories are distinguished by their profound psychological insight into human character, their commitment to national and moral values, and their comprehensive portrayal of the social realities of the period.

The writer’s scholarly work also plays a significant role in the development of Azerbaijani literary studies. Mir Jalal Pashayev made important contributions to the study of classical literary heritage, particularly to the artistic legacy of the great Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fuzuli, and offered a scholarly interpretation of the key directions of national literary thought. His scholarly and pedagogical activity played a significant role in the formation of the enlightenment movement in Azerbaijan and the development of the national school of literary studies.

The collection includes materials that encompass the author’s literary works, as well as his writings in literary criticism, journalism, and scholarship. These materials offer a comprehensive view of the breadth of Mir Jalal Pashayev’s creative range, highlighting his multifaceted role as a writer, scholar, and educator.

The Presidential Library has also produced a video dedicated to the life and work of Mir Jalal Pashayev. The video can be viewed on the Library’s YouTube channel.
