According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated 31 July 2023 on establishment of city days in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 25 October is solemnly celebrated as Gubadli City Day.  To commemorate Gubadli City Day, the Presidential Library has organized a virtual exhibition highlighting the city’s history, geographical and natural features, and rich cultural heritage.

The exhibition brings together publications exploring Gubadli’s historical development, physical geography, place names, historical monuments, and socio-economic life. It also presents research on the archaeological and architectural heritage, folklore, and demographic profile of Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur. These publications offer a comprehensive insight into the region’s historical past, national and cultural values, and development patterns.

The exhibition also includes a separate section devoted to the history of the Patriotic War, the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, and the military and political significance of the Victory. These books examine the chronology of the war, military and political developments, the recollections of combatants, the damage inflicted on cultural heritage during the occupation, and ongoing efforts to revive the economy and rebuild Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur.

The virtual exhibition aims to promote awareness of the historical and cultural heritage of Gubadli, Garabagh, and Eastern Zangazur as a whole; facilitate the study of Azerbaijan’s history of Victory; and disseminate information about ongoing restoration and reconstruction initiatives in the liberated territories. The presented materials constitute a valuable source of information for historians, researchers, and a broad readership interested in the history of Azerbaijan. Furthermore, the exhibition promotes appreciation of the country’s national and cultural heritage and helps preserve historical memory among younger generations.
