On March 5, 2026, the Hall of Art Room of the Presidential Library hosted a literary and artistic event dedicated to the work of Tamilla Akhundova, a poet and publicist, member of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, and a highly qualified psychiatrist.
The event commenced with opening remarks by the Director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova. In her speech, she spoke about Tamilla Akhundova’s professional achievements in the field of medicine as well as her contributions to literature, emphasizing the profound and emotionally resonant nature of her poetry, which speaks directly to the human spirit.
The event brought together prominent figures from Azerbaijan’s scientific, cultural, and artistic communities, who shared their views on the author’s work. Among the speakers were People’s Writers Anar and Elmira Akhundova; People’s Artist Farhad Khalilov; People’s Artists Shafiqa Mammadova, Shukufa Yusupova, and Faig Sujaddinov; Professors Flora Naji and Sevda Mammadaliyeva; as well as the director of the Vagif Mustafazadeh House-Museum, Afaq Aliyeva, writer and publicist Tarana Mammad, and other representatives of the intelligentsia. All of them highly praised the creative work of Tamilla Akhundova.
It was emphasized that themes of patriotism, vivid depictions of nature, and genre-based scenes of everyday life hold a significant place in the author’s poetry. At the same time, the speakers highlighted the diverse and nuanced representation of love and lyrical motifs, conveyed through the rich artistic imagery of her works. Particular attention was also drawn to the profound psychological depth and the notable artistic and aesthetic merit of the poetic pieces presented.
The meeting was accompanied by musical and artistic performances. Songs composed to the lyrics of Tamilla Akhundova, performed by composer and singer Sevinj Ibrahimova, art historian Alena Inyakina, and Yulia Heydarova, a soloist of the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theatre, evoked a strong emotional response among the participants. The audience also showed great interest in a romance composed by the author herself, who, in addition to her poetic talent, is distinguished by a refined musical sensibility.
The event was also attended by artists Nigar Suleyman and Bahram Khalilov, lawyer Farid Akhverdiyev, as well as representatives of various fields of science, including Gulyara Imanova, Aybeniz Hajiyeva, Nargiz Gulubeyova, and Nigar Juvarlinskaya, who conveyed their warm wishes to the author.
Throughout the meeting, Tamilla Akhundova recited her poems for the guests; the poetic selections harmoniously complemented each speech and musical performance, lending the event a special atmosphere of sincerity.
And at the end of the event, the author expressed her gratitude to the organizers and all participants for their attention and support.
