The Director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova, participated in the "Heritage İstanbul 2026" international exhibition and conference on restoration, archaeology, museums, and libraries held in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, as part of a delegation from the Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event, dedicated to the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage, brought together specialists from various countries in the field, creating opportunities for international cooperation and exchange of experience.
Within the framework of the event, modern approaches in archaeology, architecture, museology, conservation, librarianship, and archival work were presented, and a discussion took place on current issues and new technological applications. Representatives from over 20 countries and more than 130 companies participated in the exhibition. The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and other relevant institutions.
During the visit, Afet Abbasova met with Osman Murat Akan, founder of "Heritage Projects," and Hatice Deniz, executive for sales, to exchange views on cooperation opportunities and organizational matters of the event. Subsequently, visits were made to several leading scientific and cultural institutions.
Within this framework, the Manuscripts Institution of Türkiye, the Asitane Restoration and Conservation Center, the Istanbul Beylerbeyi Sabancı Maturation Institute, the Rami Library, the Ottoman Archives, the Center for Islamic Studies (İSAM), and the Cultural Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Türkiye were visited. During the meetings, practices in preserving rare publications, restoring manuscripts, digitizing archival materials, and modern library work were discussed.
The visit was significant for protecting cultural heritage, developing library and archival work, and expanding international cooperation.
