On 6 February 2019, the Presidential Library hosted the presentation of books published in foreign languages by Director of the A. A. Bakikhanov Institute of History of ANAS, Academician Yagub Mahmudov. The event was organized with the support of the Presidential Library and the Bakikhanov Institute of History. An exhibition of books published in foreign languages was also arranged at the Presidential Library, with the books presented at the exhibition being donated to the library.
The event was opened by the library director, Mail Ahmadov, who highlighted Yagub Mahmudov’s contributions to the historical science of Azerbaijan and the importance of the academic’s work.
Professor Fazail Ibrahimli emphasized that, in accordance with the directives and recommendations of President Ilham Aliyev, the Institute of History has worked over the past 15 years to cleanse the most significant moments in Azerbaijan’s history from falsifications and distortions. The Institute has published books that reflect historical truths, including those related to the history of Karabakh, Iravan, Nakhchivan, genocides, and lost territories.
Members of the Milli Majlis, Fazail Aghamaly, and deputy directors for scientific research at the Institute of History, Tofig Najafli, Jabi Bahramov, and deputy director for scientific research at the Institute of Philosophy, Eynullah Madatli, highlighted the Institute’s focus on publishing academic works in foreign languages and their dissemination.
It was noted that in 2018, the Institute of History initiated the opening of a Center for Azerbaijani Studies in Poland, where collections of documents, histories of genocides, and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic are being translated into Polish. New similar centers will be opened in the near future.
At the conclusion of the event, academician Yagub Mahmudov expressed gratitude to the team at the Presidential Library, recognizing the great leader Heydar Aliyev’s dedication to the development of historical science in Azerbaijan, a legacy successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
