The Azeri folk applied art was created in ancient times and its wonderful traditions were formed in the course of long history. From the earliest times there existed such types of folk handicrafts as carpet weaving, artistic knitting, silk weaving, embroidery, metal engraving, various types of metal – working handicrafts, ceramics, stone and wood engraving, wicker – work from cane and rod, jeweller’s art, making household goods of leather, lace knitting, etc. Even tools of labour were decorated with various figures and lines, wood was engraved in various interesting ways. The works of amateur masters were also amazing and diverse, as they kept to the depth of centuries – old traditions and were interconnected with the beauty of the surrounding world.
