One of the forms of art closely related to the visual arts and literature of Azerbaijan is theater. The professional Azerbaijani theater, having undergone a complex development path, has significantly expanded its boundaries today. Currently, theatrical activities are taking place in various regions of Azerbaijan, encompassing genres such as drama, opera, ballet, musical theater, puppet theater, and pantomime. The first volume of the five-volume edition "History of Azerbaijani Art" is dedicated to theater art. This volume, consisting of eight sections, includes materials under headings such as "Street Theater," "Formation and stages of development of professional theater," "New stage in regional theaters," "Puppet theaters," "Restored theaters," "New theaters," and others.
